Napoli Streamroll Genoa 4-0 to Maintain Scudetto Charge

Goals from Osimhen, Insigne, Mertens and Politano Send Partenopei Top

Napoli extended their lead at the top of Serie A to nine points with a thumping 4-0 win over Genoa at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris on Sunday.

The Partenopei were in dominant form from the outset and took the lead through Victor Osimhen's close-range finish in the 13th minute. Lorenzo Insigne doubled their advantage with a superb strike from outside the box just before the half-hour mark.

Dries Mertens added a third for Napoli just after the hour mark, tapping home from close range after a fine cross from Giovanni Di Lorenzo. Matteo Politano completed the scoring in the 78th minute with a powerful drive from the edge of the box.

The win takes Napoli nine points clear of second-placed Inter Milan, who were held to a 1-1 draw by Fiorentina earlier on Sunday. Genoa, meanwhile, remain bottom of the table, seven points adrift of safety.

Napoli in Control from the Off

Napoli started the game brightly and were quickly into their stride. They were moving the ball around well and creating chances, with Osimhen, Insigne and Mertens all going close in the opening stages.

The Partenopei's pressure eventually paid off when Osimhen opened the scoring in the 13th minute. The Nigerian striker was on hand to tuck home from close range after a fine cross from Di Lorenzo.

Insigne and Mertens Add to Napoli's Lead

Napoli continued to dominate after taking the lead and doubled their advantage in the 28th minute through Insigne. The Italian winger picked up the ball on the left-hand side of the box and curled a superb effort into the top corner.

Mertens made it 3-0 to Napoli just after the hour mark with a simple tap-in from close range. The Belgian forward was on hand to convert after a fine cross from Di Lorenzo.

Politano Completes the Rout

Napoli continued to press for more goals in the closing stages and eventually got their fourth in the 78th minute through Politano. The Italian winger picked up the ball on the edge of the box and unleashed a powerful drive that flew into the top corner.

Napoli Maintain Scudetto Charge

Napoli's win over Genoa was their seventh in a row in Serie A and extended their lead at the top of the table to nine points. The Partenopei are now in a strong position to win their first Scudetto since 1990.

Genoa, meanwhile, remain bottom of the table and are now seven points adrift of safety. The Grifone have now lost their last seven games in Serie A and are in danger of being relegated to Serie B.
